The Reel Phish Book
The Real Phish Book Vol 1. is my presentation of the Phish catalog from the years 1983 – 2004. It is presented in the standard “Real Book” format to be easily translated in as practical means necessary for young musicians. Every effort has been made to make it enjoyable to play. Here are some of the primary features:
1. FORMAT
a. The book is professionally copied and meticulously checked for accuracy in melody, harmony and rhythms.
b. Form within each tune, including both phrases and larger sections, is clearly delineated and placed in obvious visual arrangement.
c. For simplicity, much of the intricacies of the piano and bass parts are either omitted, casually referenced, paraphrased or greatly abbreviated unless directly contributing to the main melodic fragments.
2. SELECTION OF TUNES
a. For Vol 1. all efforts are made to present a complete list of original songs composed by the rock band Phish composed from the years 1983 – 2004. Songs from the band’s solo careers that were also performed by Phish are included.
Individual tunes can be purchased @ Sheet Music Direct
This is 100% licensed material with royalties (hopefully) flowing toward the band. Mostly Try and Tom Marshall.

“Please note that certain “sections” of songs have been played separately from time to time, but are not listed below. For instance, the middle section of “Guelah Papyrus” was sometimes played by itself under the name “The Asse Festival”. Before “The Moma Dance” had lyrics, it was called “Black-Eyed Katy”. “Shafty” was once called “Olivia’s Pool”, and featured a different arrangement. “Taste” was once known as “The Fog That Surrounds” and contained a slightly different arrangement. And many sections of the multi-part epic “Fluffhead” have been played outside of the song. Some of these sections include “Clod”, “The Chase”, “Who Do? We Do!!” and “Bundle of Joy”. Phish also performed several songs by The Dude of Life, a friend and collaborator of the band, but those are not listed here, with the exception of songs that The Dude of Life purposely gave to Phish for use in their catalog. Nancy Taube also handed over a couple songs to Phish to use as originals.
